The Village of Spring Lake and Spring Lake Township sits on a peninsula, situated between Spring Lake and the Grand River. If you’re boating you can take the Grand River from Spring Lake to Lake Michigan. Along with the natural beauty and the all-sport recreation of the lake, there are several parks and miles of biking trails to enjoy. You can go sailing at the Spring Lake Yacht club, golfing at the Spring Lake Country Club or keep your boat at one of the many marinas in the area. There are also some great waterfront dining options and the village district for all your shopping needs along with an amazing fitness and aquatic center at Spring Lake High School.
Spring Lake is well known for their amazing school system. Julie’s not just partial because her children attend there and her husband is a band director there, but also because U.S. News and World report has rated them as #8 in the entire state of Michigan. How do they get the honor of being in the top 2% of schools nationally? There is a culture of high achievement, with over half of the students participating in AP classes. The school is well sized, as they say in their slogan, they are “large enough to challenge, small enough to care.” There are two elementary schools that feed into an intermediate school, then middle school and then on to the high school of approximately 800 students. They are known for their athletic, theatre and music programs.
